Replacement of CNS Shared Computing Servers and Discontinuation of Service

Released: July 26, 2017

The lease contract for the CNS Shared Computing Servers, which commenced operation in December 2014, will be expired.
The Shonan Fujisawa ITC Users Council has been discussing the possibility of the replacement of the Shared Computing Servers (Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor), but due to their low usage levels and poor cost performance, we decided not to renew the servers and will therefore terminate the service at the end of September.
Since we recognize the continuing demand for parallel computing, we are currently considering launching a new GPGPU-based CNS public shared computing service in October this year.

For the CNS Public Shared Computing Servers (SPARC), the replacement is scheduled in September. The CNS Public Shared Computing Servers (IA) will remain unchanged and available in the future.

CNS Shared Computing Servers (Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor)

Target servers: ccx10, ccx11, ccx12, ccx20, ccx21, ccx22
End of service: Saturday, September 30, 2017, at noon
Start of new service: Late September 2017 (planned)

CNS Shared Computing Servers (SPARC)

Target servers: ccz00
Replacement period: Between early to mid-September 2017
Note: The service will be temporarily unavailable during server replacement.

This notice has already been reported to the faculty meetings and other committee meetings of SFC.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
