IMAP setup example for windows 8.1 Mail App


The contents shown here have been confirmed to operate under the following environment.
OS: Windows8.1(64bit)
Software: Mail Ver. 17.5 (standard app)
Carry out all the following procedures as well if you intend to use the Keio ID in your email address.

Procedure 1: Setting up in the new system Gmail

  1. Log into the Gmail, and then click the gear icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Forwarding and POP/IMAP".
  4. Turn on "Enable IMAP" in "IMAP Access", then click "Save Changes"

Procedure 2: Setting up in the Windows 8.1 Mail App

  1. Click "Mail" in the start screen.
    Pressing the [Windows] key will display the start screen.
  2. Click "Settings" in the menu (Charm) that appears after moving the cursor to the top or bottom right side.
  3. Click "Accounts".
  4. Click "Add an account".
  5. Click "Google".
  6. Enter your Keio Apps ID and click "Login".
    Go here to check your Keio Apps ID.
  7. Enter the ID and password you used to log into the keio.jp portal and click "Login".
  8. Click "Accept".
  9. The screen will change to the "Remember sign-in info?" screen. Set as required.
  10. The screen will change to the "Connect to Google" screen. Set as required.
    This completes the settings for using your email address as your Keio Apps ID.
    This completes the steps for "IMAP setup example for Windows 8.1 Mail App".

Reference: When an address in the form, "keio-taro@○○.keio.jp" is used as the sender's email address

* In the case where the Keio ID was obtained before March 2015, you
can use keio-taro@○○.keio.jp format email address as the sender.

The procedure is unnecessary for people who have no problem with the keio-taro@keio.jp format email address and for people who obtained it during and after April 2015.

  1. Carry out Steps 1 to 3 in Procedure 2 to display your account.
    Click "New Keio Mail Account".
  2. Tap "email" and enter the email address in the format, keio-taro@○○.keio.jp.
    Click the "←" at the top of the screen.
    This completes the setup process.
