IMAP setup example for Windows Live Mail 2012

Introduction

The contents shown here have been confirmed to operate under the following environment.
OS: Windows8.1(64bit)
Software: Windows Live Mail (ver. 2012)
Please perform the following procedure.

When setting up, Keio Apps ID and Password for mail software are required. Please check your Keio Apps ID and password for mail software in advance. The checking method is the following.

Procedure 1: Setting up in the Gmail

  1. Log into the Gmail, and then click the gear icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Forwarding and POP/IMAP".
  4. Turn on "Enable IMAP" in "IMAP Access", then click "Save Changes"

Procedure 2: Setting up in Windows Live Mail

  1. Select "Accounts" from the menu bar, then click "Email".
  2. The "Account settings screen" appears.
    Enter using the following table for reference.
    Explanation of entries
    Email address Enter your Keio ID.
    Example:keio-taro@keio.jp
    Note: Make sure that you also include the part after the "@" mark.
    The Keio ID acquired before March, 2015 (like the following) is also usable.
    Example: keio-taro@xx.keio.jp
    Password Enter the password for your email software.
    Displayed name for your sent messages Enter the name to use as the email sender.
    Manually configure server settings Insert a check.
    Go here to check your email software password.
    Click "Next" after entering each item.
  3. Set the following in the "Configure server settings" screen.
    "Incoming server information"
    Server type Select IMAP.
    Server address imap.gmail.com
    Requires a secure connection(SSL) Insert a check.
    Port 993
    Logon user name Enter your Keio Apps ID.
    Example:keio-taro@keio.jp
    Note: Make sure that you also include the part after the "@" mark.
    Go here to check your Keio Apps ID.
    "Outgoing server information"
    Server address smtp.gmail.com
    Port 465
    Requires a secure connection(SSL) Insert a check.
    Requires authentication Insert a check.
    Click "Next" after entering each item.
  4. Click "Finish". This completes the settings.
    Perform an email send/receive test.
