E. Usage environment and functions

  1. When I obtain an individual email address and use Gmail, can I integrate it with my Keio mail account?
  2. Can I continue to use the service after leaving Keio by graduation, completion, or resignation?
  3. Until now I have used email software on my PC, but can I continue to use it as I have in the past?
  4. Until now I have used the service with a cell phone (smart phone, feature phone) but can I continue to use it as I have in the past?
  5. Where will my email data be stored?
  6. Will it affect the employee email system (@adst.keio.ac.jp)?
  7. Can I use it outside Japan?
  8. You have lost a terminal using G Suite(formerly Google Apps) (PC, cell phone, smart phone, etc.). What should you do?

(Q1) When I obtain an individual email address and use Gmail, can I integrate it with my Keio mail account?
(A1) The accounts cannot be integrated, but you will be able to switch between accounts by using Google Chrome, or using a separate browser for each account. And you will be able to switch between two email accounts, by setting an additional account.

(Q2) Can I continue to use the service after leaving Keio by graduation, completion, or resignation?
(A2)  You will be able to continue to use email forwarding service for one year after separation from Keio. For details, see “Introduction to G Suite(formerly Google Apps) and precautions concerning changes to the service”.

(Q3) Until now I have used email software on my PC, but can I continue to use it as I have in the past?
(A3) Your mail address, password, and host name will change, so you will have to change your settings, but you can continue to use your email software just as you have up till now. You can use it with a browser.

(Q4) Until now I have used the service with a cell phone (smart phone, feature phone) but can I continue to use it as I have in the past?
(A4) Google Apps for Education unfortunately does not support compatibility with Feature Phone (Gala-kei), but part of its email functions will be usable in the future. Details will be announced as they are decided.

(Q5) Where will my email data be stored?
(A5) It will be stored in the Google data center. For details about the data center, check Data center locations.

(Q6) Will it affect the employee email system (@adst.keio.ac.jp)?
(A6) It will not affect the use of the adst email system itself. But, people who forward email that has arrived at the employees’ mail system to Keio mail or who forward email that has arrived at Keio mail to the employees’ mail system, must perform the migration procedures.

(Q7) Can I use it outside Japan?
(A7) It is reported that Google services cannot be used in China and other countries or regions.Reference:State of known lack of access to Google services . We are now studying ways to deal with this problem. These will be announced as they are decided.

(Q8) You have lost a terminal using G Suite(formerly Google Apps) (PC, cell phone, smart phone, etc.). What should you do?
(A8) Please respond with reference to "Method of dealing with the loss of a terminal using G Suite(formerly Google Apps) ".
