9. Address Book migration method

Address Book migration procedure

Please perform the entire following procedure.

  1. Procedure 1: download the Address Book CSV file from the current system (DEEPMail).
  2. Procedure 2: edit the downloaded CSV file
  3. Procedure 3: import the CSV file to the contact.

First

Under the current system (DEEPMail), address management is done by the Address Book function, but with the new system (Gmail), addresses can be controlled by the Contact Function. This is an introduction to the data migration import/export procedure.


You do the Address Book data migration yourself. And this function permits the import and export of the data. But it is necessary to combine data items.

Procedure 1: download the Address Book CSV file from the current system (DEEPMail).

  1. Log in to the current system (DEEPMail).
  2. Click Address Book from the menu.
  3. The Address Book screen is displayed. It is possible to export Address Book from this screen.
    First, click individual address/present group > All > “Address Book Export”.
  4. The Address Book export screen is displayed. Select the email address that you wish to export, and after entering the stored file name (the file name is optional, but here as an example, the name is “address_ikou.csv”) then click the export button.
  5. Please store the file in an optional place. As an example, store it in the folder, “Download”.
  6. If ““address_ikou.csv” download is completed” is displayed on the bottom of the screen, exporting the Address Book of the current system (DEEPMail) is completed. Please advance to procedure 2.

Procedure 2: edit the downloaded CSV file.

Here, a migration conversion tool has been prepared to import to the new system contacts.
Please download the migration conversion tool and prepare an import file.

Windows work procedure (Example: Internet Explorer)

  1. Please download the file from the following link.
    ・Download “addrconv.vbs”.
  2. Please store the downloaded file, “addrconv.vbs” to an optional location.
    After that, drag & drop the file stored in procedure 1, “address_ikou.csv” (CSV file) to the migration conversion tool.

  3. The following message will be displayed, so click on “OK”.
  4. The file called “for_Google.csv” is prepared in the same place. Please advance to procedure 3.

MAC work procedure (Example: Safari)

  1. Please click on the following link, “right click” > “store the link’s file with a separate name”, then download the migration conversion tool.
    Please enter the file name as “addrconv.pl”.
    Please make the destination to save the same place as “address_ikou.csv” (example: download).
    ・Download "addrconv_pl"
  2. Start terminal (“Go/Menu bar” > “Utility” > “Terminal”), and for example: it moves to download directory.
    $ cd Downloads
    
  3. Next, please execute the following command.
    If it is ”Output: ./for _Google.csv”, it is successful.
    $ perl addrconv.pl address_ikou.csv
    Output: ./for_Google.csv
    

Procedure 3: import the CSV file to the contacts.

  1. Log in to the new system (Gmail).
  2. Click the contacts from the menu.
  3. The contacts are displayed so import the edited CSV file.
    Please click on “Import contacts…” or on “Import” from the menu “Others”,
  4. The “Import contacts” screen displays, so Click “Reference”.
  5. Select the CSV file, “for_Google.csv” prepared by Procedure 2 and click on “Open”.
  6. Confirm that the file is selected and click on “Import”,
  7. Data is imported so that the contents of Address Book are as shown below. You can confirm that the contacts are entered in, My Contact’s "Import (YYYYMMD*)”
    Example: If today’s date is November 11, 2014, it is displayed as “2014/11/11”.
    Note: the error, “an unknown error occurred while importing contacts” may be displayed and the import may fail, but please perform procedure 3 to 6, two or three times.
