Thunderbird/Windows (IMAP4)

Using IMAP4 on Thunderbird

The instructions below use Thunderbird 150.0.1 as an example.

Send and Receive Settings

  1. Launch Thunderbird.
  2. Click the menu icon [≡] in the upper right corner of the screen.


  3. Click [New Account (N)].

  4. Click [Email].

  5. Configure the [Add your Email Address] settings. Please refer to the information below to fill in the fields.
    Full name Enter your name (this will be displayed as the sender)
    Email address Your SFC-CNS email address
    After entering the information, click [Continue].

  6. The mail server search will begin. Please wait until you see the message [Configuration found at email provider].
    The account settings will be configured automatically, so select [Continue].
    Note:If your account settings are not configured automatically, please refer to If automatic setup fails

  7. Enter your IMAP/SMTP-AUTH password and click [Continue].

  8. Click [Finish].

  9. The setup for using IMAP4 with Thunderbird is now complete.

If automatic setup fails

  1. click [MANUAL CONFIGURATION].

  2. Configure the [Incoming server settings]. Perform settings referring to the following information:
    Protocol IMAP
    Hostname imap.sfc.keio.ac.jp
    Port 993
    Connection security SSL/TLS
    Authentication method Normal password
    Username CNS login name(e.g. z00001tk)
    After entering the information, click [Continue].
  3. Configure the [Outgoing server settings]. Perform settings referring to the following information:
    Protocol SMTP
    Hostname smtp.sfc.keio.ac.jp
    Port 465
    Connection security SSL/TLS
    Authentication method Normal password
    Username CNS login name(e.g. z00001tk)
    After entering the information, click [Test].

  4. If the message "The following settings were found by probing the given server:" appears at the top of the screen, click [Continue].

  5. Enter your IMAP/SMTP-AUTH password, then click [Continue].

  6. Click [Finish].

  7. That completes the setup.
